Husqvarna Chain Sizes Australia β SHARP-AZ Guide
Husqvarna is one of Australia's most popular chainsaw brands, trusted by homeowners, farmers, arborists, firewood cutters, and forestry professionals alike. From the lightweight 120 Mark II through to the powerful 572 XP, choosing the correct replacement chain is essential for performance, safety, and cutting efficiency.
At SHARP-AZ Co., we supply premium chainsaw chains built for Australian conditions, including our Extreme Carbide range designed for hardwoods, dirty timber, and demanding cutting applications.
How To Find The Correct Chain For Your Husqvarna
Before ordering a replacement chain, you'll need three key measurements:
1. Check Your Guide Bar
Most guide bars have the chain pitch, gauge, and drive link count stamped directly into the bar.
2. Check Your Owner's Manual
Your Husqvarna manual will list the factory-recommended chain specifications.
3. Check Your Existing Chain
If you still have your old chain, the packaging or chain information may help identify the correct size. Drive links can also be counted manually.
Why Chain Size Matters
To ensure a chain fits correctly, the following specifications must match:
- Pitch
- Gauge
- Drive Link Count
Even if the chain looks similar, an incorrect specification can prevent proper operation and may damage your saw or bar.

Understanding Stihl Chain Sizes
Before ordering a replacement chain, youβll need three measurements:
Pitch
Pitch is the size of the chain.
Common Stihl pitches include:
β’ 3/8β Low Profile (3/8 LP)
β’ .325β
β’ 3/8β Standard
Gauge
Gauge is the thickness of the drive links that sit in the guide bar.
Common Stihl gauges include:
β’ .043β (1.1mm)
β’ .050β (1.3mm)
β’ .063β (1.6mm)
Drive Links (DL)
Drive links determine the overall length of the chain loop.
Even if two chains share the same pitch and gauge, the chain will not fit if the drive link count is incorrect.
